THE FIRST SERIES

of paintings are my interpretations of verses from the Book of Revelations, St. Matthew and St. Peter on the Second Coming of Christ and the Final Judgement. These were painted in London in 1968 - 69. The paintings are 1372 x 1839mm.
THE SECOND SERIES

of paintings were inspired by an article in Time magazine entitled "Is Privacy Dead?" A chilling analysis on computers and surveillance by the USA government on its' citizens.
'When, or The Raping of the Planet Earth' was inspired by the Time article and that in turn inspired this second series of paintings.
I was also inspired by a newspaper article on a study commissioned by the Club of Rome called the 'Predicament of Mankind', in which a computer predicted that "Civilisation would degrade and collapse within a century". These were painted in London in 1970 - 72. The paintings are 914 x 1219. The computer paintings are smaller at 610 x 914. The collage is 1676 x 1067mm.
THE THIRD SERIES

of paintings were painted in Holland. I was inspired by newspaper photographs and an article in Time, about the hijacking of a Dutch train by Molucaan freedom fighters just a few miles from where I was staying at the time in 1977. The paintings are 1219 x 914mm.
THE LAST TWO
unfinished paintings were inspired by newspaper photographs. One of Thomas McMahon, the IRA terrorist who blew up Lord Mountbatten. The last unfinished painting was inspired by a newspaper photograph of the Brighton IRA bombing.
FEEDBACK
We welcome your feedback, please contact us at chelseabridgestudios@btinternet.com. Image quality is variable. Some of the images are from original slides taken 35 years ago when the pictures were first completed. Subsequent damage and the passage of time have resulted in the deterioration of the paintings so that current images show the pictures faded and stained.
